Ecoramic Pots & Pan Review - Seafood Rice & Salted Vegetable Soup

10/10 PERFECT!
What an ideal morning, raining with thunders, it's too cozy to wake up from bed. After all, this kind of weather only happens once in a blue moon! Too bad, in reality most of us still have work. I know it's Monday, Monday Blue! But still, today is a working day, the new parliament session (12th Singapore Parliament) start today, after the landmark Watershed May 2011 General Election. Not to mention, we also have a new face, President Tan (It really doesn't matter, all the Presidential candidates coincidentally are all Tan) making his maiden Presidential Speech. More importantly, check out the Gmarket's Oct 10 Events today! Don't miss the chance to win G- Account $100!

Today, this is the first part of my Kitchen Art Ecoramic Pot & Pan Review. The dishes are done later part of last week. However, due to my busy schedule on the weekend, I only managed to upload the videos on YouTube. To my surprise, those video are a quick hit and some websites start linking it (wn.com and BeTheCook) Okay, let start with the ingredents first.

Seafood Rice Pot (Serve 1)

My husband get this recipe from Channel U's show, he modified the ingredients to what we have on hand, it really taste great, like Korean's Stone Grilled Rice.

List of Ingredients
1. Small slice of butter
2. 50g of bacon, slices into thin strips (3 slices)
3. 30g of thawed prawns
4. Some Oysters
5. Prawns' heads (for seafood taste)
6. Sun-dried Fish
7. Sun-dried Cuttlefish (small piece)
8. Rice (One Person serving)
9. 1 big leaf of ice berg Lettuce.
10. 2 cloves of Garlic, chopped.

For seafood, you can add according to your own preferences like fresh prawns, squids, clams, salmon, flower crabs, etc.

Steps 1 (Heat the butter and bacon)
Heat up the Ecoramic Pan and add butter. When the butter are melted, add the bacon strips and continue to to stir fried the bacon till you smell the bacon. Add the diced garlic and stir quickly, switch the fire to low.

Steam escape for the vending hole on the lid

Step 2 - (Add the ingredients)
Add on the sun-dried fish, cuttlefish & prawn heads, followed by the seafood into the pan. Add the uncooked rice and 50ml of water, cover the lid, slimmer for 15 to 20 minutes at medium low fire.  (Note : If you are using flower crab, do not add the crab shell till 5 minutes before serving.)

Step 3. (Decorate the plate and ready to serve!)
The last step, layout the ice berg lettuce on the plate and lay the seafood rice on the plate. Before serving,  garnished some pepper and you have a nice place of seafood rice.

Yummy seafood rice

The Ecoramic Pit is clean, not charred mark after cooking

Dishes 2 - Tofu with Salted Cabbage Soup (Serve 2)

This is another simple vegetarian soup that my husband cooked. Using the new Ecoramic Pot, it take lesser time and he don't have to worry about overflow issue

Ingredients
1. 1 package of Silky Tofu, cut into cubes
2. 1 package of Salted Cabbage, sliced into small strips, keep the gravy that come with it
3. Few slices of Ginger
4. Few Cherry Tomatoes or 2 Tomatoes (Sliced into quarters)
5. Few pieces of Mock Chicken Nuggets.
6. 2 big leaves of ice berg lettuce
7. Small pinch of Pepper
8. Pinch of Sesame Oil

The water boils very fast

Step 1. Boil the water
Boils two and a half soup bowls of water (around 700ml). Add all the ingredients (except the mocked chicken nuggets and ice berg lettuce) to the pot and pour in the salted cabbage gravy when the water is boiled.

Step 2. Boiled the ingredients and serve.
Prepare the bowls with the ice berg lettuce and mocked chicken nuggets evenly. When the soup is boiled (about 5 minutes) add some pepper and sesame oil, served the hot soup into the bowls. Final  touch, add some parsley, it is ready to serve. If the soup tasted bland, add some light soy sauce or salt to match your taste.

A simple soup both healthy and yummy

These are two easy recipes that anyone newbie can take up. This is the end of our demonstration on cooking the two simple dishes with Kitchen Arts Ecoramic Pot and Pans.

Final thoughts of using Kitchen Arts Ecoramic Pan
The Ecoramic Series of Pan & Pot is really light (Aluminium, useful for old folks), the colours are also very vibrant (Nice colour of Yellow, Green, Orange & Blue, like colours of kid's toy!) and really conduct heat fast! (Faster cooking). The vending hole on the lid drain away steam thus will not cause overflow like normal pans, good for cooking soup, porridge, etc. The ceramic coating on the pot and pans is really good, charred can easily slip off make cleaning a breeze, after a few cooking, the base of the pots and pans are still like new. This is a set of modern kitchenware to own.

Good ergonomic design of handle.
The blue sides of the pots and pans are that, the double handle pots are not easy to handle even when handling with cotton gloves, you can still feels the heat. The Pan is better as it has a good ergonomic design and easy to handle. Although the vending hole conduct the steam away, I'm wondering if too much of the heat is conduct away, will there be enough trap and boil the food more like a pressure pan. Well, you can't have the best of both world wasn't it?

Thank you for sharing the happy moments with me. I have taken this picture from Vitasoy and like ot dedicated it to all busy mothers.

Before i end this entry, like to share a picture that my friend has sent me via iPhone. Could the design came out from the same Hong Kong Student who design the famous iMourn dedicated to Steve Jobs? Judge for yourself and give me a 10/10 if i entertained you well :)

Tribute to Steve Jobs

Steve Jobs is dead!
The person who brings us the wonderful gadgets iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad has passed away peacefully at his home 5 Oct, leaving behind a legacy celebrated by many.
Video Tribute From Asiaone.com.sg
It is less than 2 months after Steve Jobs announced stepping down as chief executive of Apple Co. on 24 August 2011 and a day after the latest release of the latest iPhone, iPhone 4S, the great inventor, revolutionist and entrepreneur of our time, who rocks the world with his Macintosh, iMac, iPod, iPhone and iPad which revolutionize the way we communicate, listen to music and access information, fade away into the history.

Steve Jobs has been battling with pancreatic cancer since the mid of 2004. Nevertheless, he fought bravely with the illness which has a historically low surviving rate and bring us the wonderful product like those he have invented before, the iPhone, iPad and iCloud. Also his animation company, Pixar produced children animation like Cars which entertains our children.

His inventions created many fans and awe our younger generation alike to pursue Apple's product and may have surpass the influence of electronic goods like Sony for our generation. I believe at least 5 in 10 Singaporean, read the latest news, surf the web, watch video, play games all with the handy iPhone when you go to work, rest and even before bed. This wonderful machine of iPod, iPhone and iPad also help to keep our little toddler entertain when we are meetup with friends, on a bore journey and busy day.

His push of perfectionism push innovation among his competitors to produce similar products that make public life easier. No one can imagine the laptop can be so thin, beautiful and yet the lasting in battery power. So is the iPhone and iPad. Steve basically push all the computer revolution to the limits.

Using iPhone on MRT, nichellynn.blogspot.com
I really like to thanks Steve for making our life full of fun and ease. I send my deepest condolences to his family. Bill Gates has pay tribute to Steve "The world rarely sees someone who has had the profound impact Steve has had, the effects of which will be felt for many generations to come. For those of us lucky enough to get to work with him, it's been an insanely great honor. I will miss Steve immensely."

Life is short and unpredictable, i always make my point everyday without fail to be thankful to my love one.

Kitchen Art Ecoramic Ceramic Pot Series - The First Look

Yippee! The 4 Pieces Kitchen Art Ecoramic Ceramic Pot Series have finally arrived, I am now the proud owner of this exciting modern kitchenware. Ever since when I done my research on Happycall double sided Pan, I have been eyeing on this Ecoramic Pot and Pan set from Kitchen Art. My first blog on Ecoramic is here for those who do have no idea of what is it.

My hubby placed an order Gmarket from the vendor iKorea on 26 Sept and it should have arrived on 30 Sept. But there was nobody home. I have wait eagerly for Singpost to redeliver the parcel on Tuesday. My whole weekend is fill with excitement thinking of Ecoramic Pan.

The parcel is about 6.5Kg, send via EMS
The condition of the arrival parcel is quite great. The parcel show that the item was posted out from Korea on 29 Sept via EMS. EMS service is really fast. 2 working days only.

The Ecoramic Pot and Pans are all bubble warpped
Let take a look inside the parcel. The Ecoramic pots and pans are nicely pack in the insulation package and also bubble wrapped to as a second layer of protection.

The handle for the Ecoramic Pot Covers fresh out of box
Notice that the handles of the cover is not attached on the pot / pans cover. The handle is provided in this sale which is better than the knob advertise on Lejel. It allows it to pot cover to stands, also holding away from the steam gushing out. It is good ergonomic feature.

The Lejel TV offers the knob above

The Pot Handle and Cover, Stand nicely on the tap
I must confess that it took me a while to figure out how to assemble the handle on to the cover. The instruction in Korean is not very helpful. Once i figure it out, I ask my husband to assemble for me. Haha! Thank you Hubby! And below are the steps.

1. Handle 2. Vending Ring 3. Washer and 4. Screws
The Vending Ring show face away from the Handle
This assembly here is wrong, the vending ring (red box) is facing the handle, will scald you when the steam come out of it
Cross section view of wrongly assembly handle, note the vending hole (in red box) is facing the handle
Step 1. Place the vendor ring onto the handle and place the set on the surface of cover as shown
Step 2. Place the washer and the screw in place
Step 3. Use the Philips Screw Drive (+ sign) to secure and tighten the screw onto the handle
Here are the whole set been assembled, stacked nicely on top of each other and ready to cook!

Nicely Stacked
We decided to take a easy try, to fry the sunshine egg. The ceramic coating is really good. The egg really does not stick to the pan. If i could add a little bit of oil, the sunshine eye will be easy slide off the pot.

Ecoramic Rear View After Cooking, Sparking Clean!
The Ecoramic Pan is so light, easy to clean and so easy to clean. No messy stain and the pot is still smooth and shining after use, No need to scrub off the carbon like normal glass or stainless steel pot. It is so easy to maintain!

Final Thoughts

This is really a good series of kitchenware to own. Not really expensive and is easy to maintain. The four piece Ecoramic Pots and Pan are bought for S$148 exclude the steamer (Steamer can be bought from this vendor  S$39) and silicon pot handler sold by Lejel for S$248. If they could include an English operating manual, it will be fantastic! Will be trying out cooking with food soon. (PS. I have clean up my 20cm stainless steel pan for sale)

Happycall Pan Recipe - Frying Choi Poh Egg & Otak

Harlow Mums! I hope that you have digested my previous blog on vegetables. This time round I am going to guide some newbies how to prepare Choi Poh egg and Muar otak straight from freezer with the Happycall Pan. I am going to divided this blog into two segments.

First, let go with the Choi Poh.

1. Choi Poh Egg Recipe

Ingredigents
- 3 eggs (serve 2 people)
- 2 tablespoons of Choi Poh (Preserved Radish)
- Some Pepper (Personal preferences)
- 2 tablespoons of light soya sauce

Step 1 - Heat up the Pan and add Oil (around 15 to 30 Seconds)
Remember, you don't need a big fire, middle setting will do. Add a little bit of oil ( I prefer olive). You can do without the oil but it will be a bit dry.

Step 2 - Pour the mixture Choi Poh egg in Happycall and Close Lids
Pour the mixture and close the lid. Open up once you smell the aroma of Choi Poh egg.

Choi Poh Egg (Preserved Radish)
Flip ...Golden brown...Viola!
Step 3 - Flip and Serve
You can flip the egg using the spatula like me or flip the PAN! When the other side of the egg turns golden brown. You can switch off the control and ready to serve the Choi Poh egg.
Ready for serving... Yummy
2. How about Muar Otak?
It is much more easier. Open lid, add your frozen otak in. The magic, add some warm water around 50ml closed the lid. Switch to low fire. (Take around 5 mins) Once the steam is out. Proceed to Step 3 above. Ready to serve, it so simple!

With Happycall, even Otak cook well in it.
Final thoughts - Practice makes perfect, just with patience and creativeness

"A principle is the expression of perfection, and as imperfect beings like us cannot practise perfection, we devise every moment limits of its compromise in practice." ~ Mohandas Gandhi

Wishes all busy mummy, have fun with you Happycall Pan!

Happycall Pan Reviews - Cooking Vegetables

Last weeks is really exciting! Has been actively exchanging and exploring recipes, cooking techniques on Happycall Pan in forum and meeting up some friends and clients. I can see many of them and their friends are interested to buy the Happycall Pan.

Best Ocher Happycall Deal
Best Happycall Deals

Many early converter however bought their Happycall Pan from Lejel at S$108, unaware they can get the it at lower rate at Gmarket. Since then, has been recommending them to reputable Gmarket's vendors that offer good deal for both standard Happycall pan and Ocher series. My recommendations can be found (Updated regularly) on the top right hand corner of my blog. Just received two standard pans ordered for my friend and going forward to another two for my relatives.

Standard Pan bought in Gmarket
I have also bought a set of 4 pieces Kitchen Art, Ecoramic Ceramic Pot and some interesting home improvement products. The Ecoramic Pan just delivered yesterday and i will be reviewing it soon..

During exchanging, I'm quite surprise many busy mums didn't attempt to cook vegetables with Happycall Pan. Mostly shared with me how they cooked tofu, grilled fishes, chicken and roasted meat but their adventures on vegetable is really dull. I run a check with my hubby (A vegan) how he manage to cook vegetables with Happycall Pan? He replied, to cook vegetables well, one needs to re learn the way of cooking. Presenting below is the 7 Easy Steps to Cook Vegetables with Happycall Pan, sharing it with all aspiring mums.

Cooking Vegetables with Happycall Pan in 7 Easy Steps

Step 1 - Preparation of Food & Gravity
Cleans, slices and prepares your vegetables, meats and sauces/gravy . Below is a simple tip i discovered to prepare the sauces.

a) Get an empty bottle
b) Pour the prefer condiments into it (Pepper, Oyster Sauces, Fermented Beancurbs, etc)
c) Close the lid and shake. Viola!
Fermented Bean curb sauce for cooking
Step 2 - Heat up the Pan and add Oil (around 15 to 30 Seconds)
Remember, you don't need a big fire, middle setting will do. Add a little bit of oil ( I prefer olive).

Step 3 - Add Ginger and Close Lids
For the aroma, add ginger slices at this stage. Close the lid and open up once you smell the ginger.

Step 4 - Add Meat / Solid Vegetables / Mushrooms
At this stage, add slices meat (not frozen meat) / mushrooms / solid vegetable like potatoes, carrots slices. Close the lid and wait for another 30 to 45 seconds.
Abalone Mushrooms

Nice aroma
Step 5 - Add your vegetables (leafy)
Pen the lid, add your vegetables now. Do remember to add some warm water so that the vegetables will not be over cooked. Once the steam is out. Proceed to Step 6
Pour sauce into vegetables
Step 6 - Add Garlic / Sauces / Condiments
If you are adding chopped garlic / onions, add at this stage, wait for the 15 seconds, then add the rest of the sauces / condiments. Closed lids, remembered to flip the pan and open up to stir fried when necessary.
1 min cooking
Step 7 - Wait for the Steam and Serve
Depending on the amount of food put in, you need to wait for 30 secs to 1 minute. Once the steams is out from the back of the pan. You can switch off the control and ready to serve the vegetables.
Abalone mushroom with lettuce in Fermented beancurb sauce

It is very easy to cook but need to get the sequence and "fire power" right, good cutlery skills (even slicing of food) and most importantly plenty of loves.

Until then, wishes all busy mums, happy cooking with Happycall Pan, your new assistant in kitchen.
